Koran Burning - Off, But May Be Reinstated

Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville FL had announced a cancellation of the planned Qu'ran burning on 9/11, believing that there was a deal with the ground zero mosque imam to relocate the mosque.  Now, claiming he was "lied to", Jones may reinstate the burning.

During these past few weeks, many people were quite atwitter about the whole affair.  The Messiah Most Miserable warned that Jones' planned actions would "endanger US troops".

Let's go back to May 2009, to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.  A church sent some Bibles there.  Since "proselitzing" was forbidden to US servicemen, the Army higher-ups took it upon themselves to confiscate and burn the Bibles.  Do we recall anyone in the administration, or anywhere else for that matter, worrying about the ramifications of that draconian move?  Neither do I.

One Pentagon official did recognize the insult.  From the article: However military analyst and Pentagon adviser, Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis, criticized the move. "There is no need to burn the Bibles. They could have been shipped back," he said. "Just imagine if we, the same the United States military, were to take a bunch of Korans and burn them. I can imagine the ramifications across the world."

Boys and girls, can we all say "double-standard"?
